Bathgate Thistle vs Corstorphine Dynamo

Bathgate looked to bounce back after a poor result the week before and started the game very well. Bathgate created a good few chances and were passing the ball around well. Against the run of play Corstorphine Dynamo won the ball in midfield and their winger drove past the Bathgate defence getting a shot away which bobbled over Marcus in goals. 0-1

Bathgate looked to respond straight away and were soon level after a ball crossed of over the Corstorphine Dynamo box was picked up by Nathan Charles on the edge of the area which he shot across goal into the bottom corner. 1-1

Bathgate kept the pressure up and were soon in the lead, with Nathan Charles adding to his tally to put Bathgate in front. 2-1

As Bathgate kept the pressure on more gaps were found as Corstorphine Dynamo could not handle the Bathgate front two, a period of pressure ended up with a Bathgate corner, Andrew Wood delivered a great cross and with a great run Ross Steel headed into the net. 3-1

HT 3-1

Bathgate went out in the second half looking to kill the game off but it was the slack play that has hindered Bathgate in recent games allowed Corstorphine Dynamo back into the game pulling one back early in the second half. 3-2

Bathgate increased the lead soon after as an always persistent Ryan Weir pounced on a goalkeeper error to re-establish a two-goal lead. 4-2

Corstorphine Dynamo didn’t give up and pulled it back again, with Gareth heading the ball over Marcus to score an OG. Poor communication costing the team again. Bathgate needed to be careful as they were in danger of throwing the game away with poor decisions. 4-3

Bathgate brought on some fresh legs to see out the game and it worked with both Reece McBain and Stevie Gardenier scoring late on. Reece put away one with a great strike and Stevie with an easy finish. Bathgate could have had more with one chopped off for off side when it looked like the players were level and several other chances.
FT 6-3

Some good performances but overall Bathgate gave goals away far too easy and failed to punish Corstorphine Dynamo with the amount of chances created. More work needed but a good three points.

MOTM: Gareth Roberts – Debut for the Thistle and despite scoring an OG was solid most of the match. Good start but still room for improvement.
