Bathgate got back to action after a free week the previous week and with some changes from the previous game started poorly. Bathgate seemed nervous on the ball and failed to clear there lines on a couple of occasions which after a stables corner the ball dropped out side to an unmarked stables player struck it sweet straight into the top corner. Bathgate never really got going and had a couple of half chances before a good run from the stables number 9 ended with him being wiped out on the edge of the area which he popped in the top corner to make it 2-0. Bathgate tried to carve open the stables defence and had most of the possession but didn’t look like scoring. Finally kyle exchanged some good passes and worked himself into the box. His first shot was blocked but he turned on the rebound and passed it in the bottom corner. Unfortunately moments after, Bathgate had a throw in just inside there own half but gave the ball away cheaply which allowed stables in to make it 3-1. Bathgate looked to try get back in the game but the momentum was broken with a long spell of stopped play after an injury to a stables player who went over in his ankle with a bauble in the park and he didn’t come back to the play which reduced stables to 10 men.
HT 1-3
Bathgate started the second half looking to get an early goal and take advantage is the extra man but our passing was so poor that we continually gave the ball back to stables which ended with them getting to the by line and putting in a cross which the centre back should have been stronger and cleared but the striker came in from behind to touch passed the keeper. A few changes for Bathgate and a change of formation seen bathgate play better and a good run from Graham Hamilton allowed him to slip in Mark to pull one back. Bathgate upped the pressure and the last 20 was mostly in the stables half with them defending well and looking to counter. Bathgate had worked the ball into the box and after a few touches the ball fel to Adam and he tucked it away in the bottom corner. 4-3 with 5-10 to go bathgate pilled on the pressure and a good run from Jordan Gibson into the box was ended when he was tripped. Stone wall penalty but not given by the referee. Last few mins and from a bathgate corner that was originally cleared the ball was knocked into the box with at least 2 bathgate players running on to it when the referee blew for full time.
FT 3-4
A poor display from the full team and we will need to improve if we want to achieve anything this season. Credit to Stables as they defended well with 10 men in banks of 4 and possibly If the referee didn’t have a curfew to get back for he would have given the penalty which would have ment extra time. Should not have been in that position in the first place anyway.
MOTM Kyle Gibson
On to the Scottish next week where will need to show a big improvement
